That Section XI canceled the high school boys and girls winter track meets this past weekend because of the blizzard did not sit well with Yani Cuesta, East Hampton High’s girls coach — it was the second year in a row that the girls’ league meet has been canceled — though Bill Herzog, the boys coach, was somewhat more philosophical.

For the past three months, Michelle Del Giorno, of Epic Martial Arts, has been sharing her space on Sag Harbor’s Main Street with Tony White, a personal trainer and mixed martial arts instructor who, after 10 years in the employ of another local gym, has struck out on his own.

Missing their point guards, the East Hampton and Bridgehampton High School boys basketball teams lost games last week, the Bonackers at John Glenn and the Bees at Stony Brook, but as this week began their coaches were happy to say that Jack Reese, in Bonac’s case, and Tylik Furman, in Bridgehampton’s, were ready to go again.
The East Hampton High School boys swimming team went one-and-one last week, losing by 2 points here to West Islip and winning 48-40 at Stony Brook.
