An ongoing difference of opinion between Sag Harbor Village and the Sag Harbor Yacht Club over ownership of a boat ramp on Bay Street came to the fore again last month when Mayor Brian Gilbride called village police after a locked chain was strung across the floating dock adjacent to the ramp.
As the live open-mike music was about to begin last Thursday night, Jesse Matsuoka, the co-owner of Phao Restaurant on Main Street in Sag Harbor, remarked that his decision to bring on Alfredo Merat as manager was one of the best he’d ever made. He wanted someone with a local connection, he said, to “spice up the front of the house.”
Last year, Roger Waters showed up at Amagansett's Stephen Talkhouse when G.E. Smith was playing, Nick Kraus, a manager there, said. He missed it, unfortunately, he said, "Pink Floyd was there and I was nearby and had no idea." Anyway, he is surprised that tonight's 8 p.m. show, which will include Taylor Barton, has not yet sold out.
Mr. Kraus also couldn't believe there were still tickets for Xavier Rudd's show on Thursday night, a popular performer he called an "Australian Jack Johnson."
