  •     Three vendors who won bids last year to sell food and drink at Montauk beaches or road-ends are relinquishing their sites, opening the way for others.
        Bids will be accepted beginning March 14 by East Hampton Town’s Purchasing Department on the right to vend at the westernmost parking lot at Ditch Plain, at Kirk Park, and at the end of West Lake Drive.

  • Now For Home
        The tomato sauce prepared and used at Astro Pizza and Felice’s Restaurant, the side-by-side Italian spots in ­Amagansett, can now be purchased for use at home, and even ordered by mail. Containers come in two sizes: 16 ounces for $5.50 and 36 ounces for $7.50. Homemade pizza dough and the restaurants’ homemade balsamic vinaigrette dressing are also available in takeout packages.

  • Plans for exhibits of 1900s life at property on North Main Street
  • East Hampton Town and the Peconic Land Trust will join forces to purchase the development rights over 9.5 Amagansett acres containing the Stony Hill Stables.
  •     The East Hampton Town Board will hold a hearing next Thursday on a request to change the zoning of two parcels on the Napeague stretch from one-acre residential to neighborhood business.
        The land, owned by Michael Dioguardi, totals just over an acre. One parcel is vacant, the other is the site of Cyril’s Fish House.

    Budget Meeting Tomorrow

        East Hampton Town’s Budget and Finance Advisory Committee will meet tomorrow to discuss possible improvements to the town’s information technology systems.

  •     Rick Bogush, the garden manager at Bridge Gardens in Bridgehampton, will present “Cooking With Herbs, Part Two” on Sunday at the Bridgehampton Community House. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission is free to Bridge Gardens members, and $15 for others. Reservations have been requested, as space is limited, and can be made by calling the offices of the Peconic Land Trust, which is sponsoring the event, or by sending an e-mail to

    Italian Cooking

  • East Hampton Town and East Hampton Village are banding together to seek grant money for the construction of a centralized, shared facility.
  •     Even as winter winds on, the seeds of a future garden on the grounds of East Hampton Town Hall are firmly in place, with plans to begin planting daffodils, jonquils, and boxwood surrounding the  entrance sign by Earth Day this spring.

  • Memorial Dinner
        Reservations are being taken for the Joshua Levine memorial dinner, to be sponsored by Slow Food East End on March 24.
        The event honors the life of Mr. Levine, who was a member of the East End farming community. Last year’s dinner raised approximately $18,000 that provided stipends to three master farmers who worked with the Edible School Garden program on the East End.

  • A New York State training program in “citizens’ preparedness,” designed to provide information and tools to help residents prepare for and respond to emergencies and to recover from them as quickly as possible, will be presented on March 22 at the East Hampton Village Emergency Services Building on Cedar Street, from 6 to 8 p.m.

  • Consultants who will help East Hampton Town develop plans for the nonresidential areas of each of the town's hamlets will hold meetings next week to hear the public's thoughts and concerns.
  • Plans for future energy generation on the East End to meet growing power needs are on the Long Island Power Authority's agenda, with key decisions to be made this spring, and renewable energy advocates are urging residents to speak out at a LIPA board of trustees meeting on Wednesday.
  • A group called Montauk Locals is urging concerned residents to gather at the Montauk Firehouse at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to greet the East Hampton Town Board, which will be having a 10 a.m. meeting there.
  • The East Hampton Town Board voted unanimously on Tuesday night to enact an overnight curfew at East Hampton Airport, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., and to extend that curfew from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. for planes that fall into a "noisy aircraft" category.
  • An electric-vehicle charging station, newly installed at East Hampton Town Hall, will be unveiled at 9 a.m. Friday at an event sponsored by the town board and the Natural Resources Department. The public has been invited.

    The station is in front of the police annex at the town hall campus on Pantigo Road. It use will be demonstrated, using electric vehicles provided by Buzz Chew Chevrolet and Tesla Motors, whose representatives will be on hand to answer technical questions.

  • East Hampton Town will provide trash bags and gloves to volunteers pitching in on Saturday for the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup Day.

    Individuals and groups have been invited to collect trash on any beach. Participants will be asked to fill out an Ocean Conservancy data collection form, which the town will provide, to record the type of debris found. The information will be used by the organization to identify debris “hotspots” and issues, raise awareness, and help communities adopt policies that will contribute to cleaner oceans.

  •      A dynamic trio of East End songstresses, Nancy Atlas, Caroline Doctorow, and Inda Eaton, rocked a sold-out Bay Street Theatre on Saturday night for "Way Out East," the East Coast precursor to an upcoming mini-tour out west.
