Willy J. Wolter

Trustee Candidate (Republican, Independence)
Willy J. Wolter

Willy J. Wolter spent 30 years operating a business in the fashion industry in New York City, an experience that he said taught him how to get things done. A year-round resident of East Hampton for eight years, he has been a director of the East End Community Organic Farm for 12 years.

Water quality and public access to the town's beaches are the top issues confronting the trustees, he said at a candidates' forum last week, and regularly scheduled dredging of waterways is critically important to clean harbors and beaches. The trustees, he said, must work with the town board to accomplish their goals, but must also assert their jurisdiction over common lands and ensure that the town board recognizes that authority.

Like his Republican colleagues, Mr. Wolter said that he supports alternative energy but opposes the proposed South Fork Wind Farm, asserting that it will be of no benefit to East Hampton residents.
