Bonito Are Back in the Bay
They’re back! Schools of bonito have made an appearance in Gardiner’s Bay. In fact, Sam Lester and his friend T.J. Cosmos were angling for, and catching, bluefish in the 7-to-10-pound range on Saturday morning off Cherry Harbor when he came across a large school of green bonitos.

We’re Tasty to Ticks
August is a lot of things on eastern Long Island, most of them good for business, good for the people who live and work here, good for fishing and clamming, good for harvesting. On the debit side, it’s the worst time because of the ticks and other arthropod pests that bite humans and give them diseases.
