1770 House

143 Main Street, East Hampton, NY 11937
Dinner seven days. Open, 5:30-10 p.m. weekdays. Weekends until 10:30 p.m.

The 1770 House has a small dining room, with old-wood tables, soft lighting, and Oriental rugs, and a more casual dining area and tavern-style bar in the basement with less extravagant prices. The restaurant offers cosseting service, high-quality contemporary American food with an emphasis on simplicity, beautiful presentation, and has a comfortable sound level. Michael Rozzi (formerly executive chef of Della Femina Restaurant in East Hampton) is at the helm with signature dishes like a spicy local fluke tartare appetizer with Hijiki and wasabi tobiko radish, or beets and baby mizuna lettuce, rogue smokey blue cheese, maple and cumin dressing. Entree choices include seared scallops with sweet peas and potatoes and Chanterelle mushroom fondue, melted leeks and black garlic. Local products are served whenever possible. A nice addition is the outdoor patio where, along with enjoying your food, you can enjoy a beautiful evening outside.
