Michael and Tracy Cavaniola started out with small production wines and cheeses from around the world in two small buildings including the historic Umbrella House. They opened Cavaniola's Kitchen three years later, in another building at the site, and it offers some of the most inventive dishes around. How about prosciutto and artichoke on a "pipette." Homemade potato chips and good bread are staples and you can get an idea of the Kitchen's entrees from the pork loin stuffed with fontina and spinach. Cavaniola's opened a Greenport branch in the Vines and Branches cafe in the spring.
