The Hideaway is at the Diamond Cove Marina on Lake Montauk, and to say the family-run restaurant is hard to find would be an understatement. It is worth the hunt. There is a full Mexican menu with traditional foods at breakfast and lunch. Starters include ceviche of the day, prickly pear cactus salad, and grilled corn. Entrees include fish tacos, tamales, the obligatory burritos, and sopes, all with fresh ingredients. Stuffed jalapeno peppers are one of the crowd's favorites, as are ribs. Fresh lime margaritas, as well as original sangria, an excellent selection of Mexican beers, and over 100 varieties of tequila to choose, taste, and enjoy. No table service; you place an order at the counter and wait for your buzzer to sound.
