The Seafood Shop is a tried-and-true market and packing facility for local baymen, who bring their catches out back making it possible to buy fish caught that day. Colin Mather, the shop's owner, acknowledges that the shop has had to sell fish, like salmon and red snapper, which are caught far away to meet customers' tastes, and to label some fish "wild" to distinguish it from those that are farmed, but he believes what is local, and thereby freshest, is best. Despite declines in certain fisheries, bay and nearby offshore waters continue to provide a great variety. In addition to prepared salads, wraps, chowders, and soups, the shop stocks some groceries and local delicacies like smoked bluefish. There's a large menu of takeout dinners and lunches.
