On a rainy summer day or a snowy winter one, Silver's is a great escape into a slice of old Southampton and Paris all at once. A family business since 1923, the bistro offers huge portions, top-notch ingredients, and relatively steep prices. Still, it is worth it to regulars and those who want to splurge on their midday meal. Options range from a variety of homemade soups, including their lobster bisque with cognac and sherry, to a filet mignon salad garnished with English Stilton-Double Gloucester cheese. Blue-claw crab cakes and their own version of a lobster roll, very light on mayo and celery, are also favorites. The cheerful room is accented with bright figurative paintings by the owner's mother. It is definitely a place to enjoy a glass of wine with lunch.
