The East Hampton Library is offering a scholarship and employment opportunity for a bilingual person interested in pursuing a career in library and information science. The scholarship is for someone who speaks both Spanish and English, and will cover full tuition for a master’s degree while also guaranteeing the recipient a job at the library.

“This scholarship aims to empower Spanish/English speaking scholars who are passionate about libraries, information science, and community engagement,” the library said.

Scholarship criteria and applications, which are due on April 29, can be found online at bit.ly/49GcWSo. The recipient will also have an opportunity to be mentored by “seasoned professionals” at the library and to “contribute to innovative projects and initiatives aimed at serving the diverse community of East Hampton.”

The scholarship is covered entirely by private funding, the board of managers noted.
