Septic System Hearing in East Hampton Village

The East Hampton Village Board will hold a public hearing on Friday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. on a proposed law that would require updated wastewater treatment systems for all new residences and for existing ones whose floor area is expanded by 25 percent or where the number of bedrooms is increased. The hearing will take place at the Emergency Services Building on Cedar Street.

Widespread attention is being paid to sanitary systems that allow nitrogen, which causes pollution, to flow into groundwater, and rebates are being made available for eligible homeowners through both county and town programs.
