Why Did He Scratch the Paint Off the Rental Car?

Thu, 09/05/2019 - 12:20

A Bellport man was arrested in Amagansett Monday morning at 10 on a felony criminal mischief charge after he allegedly scratched the paint on the side of a 2019 Ford rental car. Police charged Felipe Zamora Luna, 38, with felony criminal mischief, but did not offer a reason why he vandalized the Hertz rental vehicle, only saying that the damage exceeded $1,500. East Hampton Town Justice Steven Tekulsky released him on his own recognizance.

Kristian Valle-Ortiz, 26, of Montauk was charged late Sunday night with displaying a forged inspection sticker, a misdemeanor. Late Sunday night, police stopped a 2004 Nissan Murano on Flamingo Avenue in Montauk, and found on it a sticker that was issued for a 2015 Nissan. Ms. Valle-Ortiz was behind the wheel and was arrested at midnight. A sergeant released her with an order to appear in Justice Court on Monday.

A 66-year-old Westhampton Beach woman was arrested after allegedly shoplifting from an Amagansett store on Aug. 26. Christine A. Fromentin took a Hartford men’s shirt from Henry Lehr in Amagansett Square, employees said, putting it in her handbag and leaving the store at 4:30 p.m. without paying for it. She was charged within the hour with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. The shirt cost less than $250.

A sergeant released her that evening, and she is to appear in court on Sept. 19.
