Lifeguards Have ‘Busiest Weekend Ever’
A high rip current risk over the weekend was responsible for 137 ocean lifeguard saves (some preventive actions, some true saves) on the weekend starting July 30, according to Jeff Thompson, Amagansett’s chief lifeguard, who said 90 percent of those occurred on the stretch of beach in downtown Montauk that lifeguards call Hotel Row.
