A 30-foot sailboat named Piper, out of Dartmouth, Mass., was anchored and seemingly abandoned 100 yards off Main Beach in East Hampton Village over the weekend, while its owner apparently found shelter in a parking kiosk.
Source of Contamination Clear, Next Steps Not So Much
Questions remain about the potential human health impacts of contaminated drinking water at four Suffolk County Water Authority wells closest to the East Hampton Energy Storage Center, but it is clear that the source of the forever chemicals in the water was a fire-supression agent used to extinguish a 2023 fire there.
