A quick poll refresher was held Tuesday for the volunteers who manned the voting booths in Springs, where close to 1,000 residents cast ballots. The budget passed by 126 votes.

Springs, East Hampton Budgets Pass
Voters reject calls to block 2011-12 spending plans
In East Hampton Union Free School district voting Tuesday, the proposed budget of $64.4 million budget passed by a wide margin, with, half an hour after the polls closed, the votes being tallied at 540-271.
Jacqueline Lowey and Patricia Hope won seats on the school board with votes of 490 and 464, respectively. The runners-up were Liz Pucci with 351 votes, Paul Fiondella, 257, and Marie Elena Klarman, 88.
In Springs, where there had been vocal opposition to the proposed budget of $24.65 million, the vote was closer than East Hampton's, 562 to 436. The two available board seats in Springs will be taken by Liz Mendelman, who has been the Springs parent teacher association president, and by Tim Frazier, a principal in the Southampton Intermediate School.
Budgets also passed in Bridgehampton, Amagansett, Montauk, Wainscott, and Sag Harbor, where the spending plan passed, 917 to 698. Sag Harbor's three board seats in play were won by Mary Anne Miller, Tracey Samot, and Sandi Kruel.
In Amagansett, Patrick Bistrian and Phelan Wolf won for school board. An incumbent, Vincent Vigorita, was ousted by voters.
