Backyard gets its name because it is behind Solé East on Second House Road. The restaurant and lounge are surrounded by nicely landscaped grounds and gardens. There are two open patios where you can hang out and listen to a D.J., and you can dine by the pool. Inside, you'll see a large dining room and bar. The menu has market-fresh dishes. Larry Kolar, the chef, new last year, is formerly of Quilted Giraffe, Sign of the Dove, Bolivar, and Kenney's Commune. The wine list has inexpensive selections. Don't expect mellow, old-school Montauk, this place can get hopping on summer weekends with the oh-so-hip, apres-Ditch crowd.
