Parrish to Hold a Contra Dance in Water Mill

No less an authority than Paul Goldberger, the noted architecture critic and part-time East Hampton resident, referred to the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill as “a museum that evokes barns and lofts” in a Vanity Fair article praising the building. What better location, then, for a community contra dance, or barn dance, which will take place there tomorrow evening from 6 to 8 with Chart Guthrie, a professional caller, and Dunegrass, an East End bluegrass group.

Mr. Guthrie, who has been leading contra dances for more than 30 years, will offer a brief lesson, suitable for both novices and experienced hoofers, before the dance. Tickets are $10, free for members, students, and children.

The museum will also hold a casting call for members of the community who are interested in participating in the next iteration of “The Hamptons Get Mortified.” Producers from Mortified NYC will conduct private interviews on March 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the museum. In order to be considered for an interview, those interested in participating must submit an online application at getmortified.com/participate by Monday.
