East Hampton Town police on Wednesday arrested a 13-year-old Springs School student who allegedly doctored a photo of another student, turned it into a threat of violence, and posted it on social media. Officers were able to "swiftly" deem it noncredible, according to a press release.

The student, whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, has been charged with one count of making a terroristic threat, a felony, and with making a threat of mass harm, a misdemeanor.

Police did not specifically say the incident involved a Springs student, but Debra Winter, the superintendent, sent a message to parents shortly after noon stating that school officials "immediately notified law enforcement officials" after they learned about the threat and assisted in the investigation, and in a later message, East Hampton's superintendent, Adam Fine, said that the incident involved the Springs School.

This marks the second time in a week that a Springs School student was involved in questionable behavior. A student fired a BB gun on a school bus returning from a football game last Thursday.
