Three D.W.I.s in Harbor

Thu, 05/23/2019 - 06:33

Sag Harbor Village police arrested three people for alleged drunken driving over the weekend.

The first was Bridget M. Canavan, 22, of Sag Harbor, who had an accident while backing out of a parking space on Long Island Avenue on Saturday just after midnight. Police said she was clearly intoxicated and consented to a breath test. Ms. Canavan was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor levied when someone’s blood alcohol level is above .18. She was held for a morning arraignment and released on her own recognizance.

Lisa M. Tomei, 39, of Shirley was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I. on Saturday just after 2 a.m. Police said they saw her Toyota Venza going west on Bay Street when she ignored a stop sign at the Main Street intersection. She appeared intoxicated, an officer who pulled her over said. She, too, was released on her own recognizance.

Lastly, Brian A. Ferraro, 30, of East Hampton found himself under arrest in the early morning on Sunday. Police said they saw him driving his 2018 Nissan Rogue southeast on Hampton Street, which is part of Route 114. Near Brandywine Drive, he failed to maintain his lane by crossing over the double-yellow line and then the solid white fog line numerous times, according to the police report.

When he was stopped, police said he appeared intoxicated, performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and was taken into custody. The charges were driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and two traffic infractions. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
