Shoplifting, Mischief Alleged

Thu, 07/21/2022 - 09:36

Sag Harbor police charged Sofia Fernandez Nava, 22, with four drug-related misdemeanors after she was allegedly caught shoplifting at Love Shack Fancy, a Main Street shop, on the afternoon of July 11. Officers searched her bag, according to the report, and found a bathing suit and a pair of sunglasses. She was charged with petty larceny in that incident. The shop’s staff told police Ms. Nava was a known quantity there; a day earlier, an employee had reported seeing her stealing a “mauve Astr dress.”

The proprietors elected not to press charges for the missing items, but police also reported finding amphetamines and other drugs in Ms. Nava’s bag, leading to the drug possession charges. Ms. Nava, of Tampico, Mexico, was warned not to return to the store and was issued an appearance ticket to be in Sag Village court on Friday, July 29.

Sonya Najet Fezza of Water Mill was charged on the evening of July 10 with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, after she allegedly tried to slash two tires on a Dodge sedan with Florida plates. She failed in the attempt, police said, but did dent the front passenger-side door with a large barbecue grill fork. The incident took place in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 140 Springs-Fireplace Road, East Hampton.
