He Proposed at the Morton Refuge

Jean B. Johnson of East Hampton has announced the engagement of her son, Paul A. Johnson, to Gina Saladino, the daughter of Michelle Saladino and the late John (J.J.) Saladino of Water Mill.

Mr. Johnson proposed at the Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge in Noyac with a ring designed using the same matrimonial gemstones worn by his mother during her 30-year marriage to his late father.

Ms. Saladino is self-employed, and Mr. Johnson works for the Children's Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton. The couple plans to wed in the spring of 2022.

Construction fences were placed around the Springs General Store last week, and Daniel Bennett, co-owner of Springs General Real Estate, confirmed that he had applied for a building permit and was hopeful work could begin soon, with a possible opening in 2027.
