Surf Shop to Close

Lars Svanberg, the owner of Main Beach Surf and Sport, a fixture in Wainscott for 32 years, has announced he will be closing the store in late August, when the lease is up, and looking for a new East End location. Starting on Saturday, the store will hold a summer-long moving sale with 20 percent off all clothing.

Gucci Pops Up

Gucci will open a pop-up shop at Melet Mercantile on Industrial Road in Montauk from July 3 to July 28. The store will feature a selection of the luxury brand’s men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and accessories alongside Melet Mercantile’s vintage goods.

Gucci will also join with other businesses in the hamlet such as John’s Drive-In, Montauk Brewing Company, and Montauk Juice Factory to provide complimentary food and drinks at the store on weekends.

Fresh Clothes

Fresh Produce, a women’s resort wear brand, has opened a pop-up shop at 66 Newtown Lane in East Hampton. The store offers shorts, T-shirts, leggings, sundresses, and other summer-centric fashions that “make you look put together, but like you did it with ease,” said Mare Vernon, the owner, who launched the business in 1984 by selling T-shirts at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Warby at the Beach

Warby Parker, the prescription glasses and sunglasses retailer, will open a pop-up shop called Warby Parker Beach Reads at 50 Newtown Lane in East Hampton on June 29. The store will feature a full selection of adult and children’s frames, a self-service lending library with hundreds of paperbacks, and an honor bar with Joe and Liza’s ice cream sandwiches. The suggested donation for an ice cream sandwich will be $5, and proceeds will go to the East Hampton Library.

Life Equipment

Ryland Hilbert, an East End native, opened Ryland Life Equipment, a men’s clothing and home accessories store, at 26 Madison Street in Sag Harbor in April. The shop carries luxury brands such as Harden, Freeman’s Sporting Club, and Pierre-Louis Mascia.

A.I.A. Scholarships

The Peconic Chapter of the American Institute of Architects announced the winners of this year’s Anthony DiSunno Scholarship, which provides financial aid to students enrolled at an accredited school of architecture. The recipients include two students who have attended East Hampton High School: Eitan Albukrek, a member of Tulane University’s class of 1921, and Zane Musnicki, who will be a member of California Polytechnic State University’s class of 2024.

The scholarships will be presented at an A.I.A. Peconic Design Awards event to be held at the Ross School in East Hampton on Jan. 11.

Advantage Opens

Advantage Title, a residential and commercial title insurance firm, has opened an East Hampton office at 2 Newtown Lane. Chris Nuzzi, a senior vice president at the company and a former Southampton Town councilman, is manager of the branch.

Food for Flying

The Clam Bar at Napeague is partnering with Montauk Sky, an airline with weekend flights from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey to Montauk, to provide passengers to the East End with a complimentary lobster roll and Montauk Brewing Company beer.
