President, challengers at big-ticket fund-raisers

The money is here, and the candidates are coming.

With a segment of the donor class camped on the South Fork this month, President Trump is to attend fund-raisers tomorrow at a Bridgehampton house owned by the developer Joe Farrell and at the Southampton house of the developer Stephen Ross and his wife, Kara Ross.

Later this month, the musician Jon Bongiovi, who is known professionally as Jon Bon Jovi, will host an event for Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, Mr. Bongiovi’s home state, at his East Hampton residence on Aug. 18. And rumor has it that fund-raising events for former Vice President Joe Biden, who leads the large field of candidates for the Democratic Party’s nomination to challenge the president, and Senator Kamala Harris of California will also be held in the coming weeks.

The president’s fund-raising trip to the Hamptons tomorrow will begin at Mr. Farrell’s Sandcastle, a 17,000-square-foot house on Halsey Lane. The Conservative Investor Daily website reported last month that an invitation obtained by CNBC listed tickets to the fund-raiser starting at $2,800. For $250,000, donors will be granted eight tickets and two photographs with the president. Money raised will be directed to the Trump Victory committee, the site reported. Trump Victory raises money for the president’s re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee.

Representative Lee Zeldin of New York’s First Congressional District and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina are to attend, along with Ronna Romney McDaniel, co-chairwoman of the Republican National Committee; Tommy Hicks Jr., its finance chairman; Brad Parscale, the campaign’s manager; Donald Trump Jr., and Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality and a senior adviser to the Trump campaign.

Mr. Farrell was a donor to Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign for president. Newsday reported last month that the Sandcastle property rents for $1 million per month during the summer season and includes a recording studio, bowling alley, tennis court, trampoline, baseball field, carnival slide, and 17 bathrooms. “It also attracts vocal detractors,” according to Newsday, “who object to the mansions Farrell builds for other buyers nearly as much as they hate his own abode.”

The Washington Post, which obtained invitations to both fund-raisers, reported that tickets to the one at the Ross house “are priced at $100,000 for a photo opportunity and lunch, and $250,000 for the package that includes [a] roundtable discussion,” with the president.

Mr. Ross, who owns the Miami Dolphins and has a stake in Equinox Fitness and SoulCycle, is the developer of Hudson Yards in Manhattan.

Where a president goes, so go his detractors, and opponents of Mr. Trump are planning a rally tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. on the Water Mill green. Progressive East End Reformers, or PEER, is organizing the rally, which it said in an email on Monday would include clergy and grassroots activists who will speak to issues such as the conditions at detention centers for undocumented immigrants as well as the president’s “blatant racism and provocation of hatred and divisiveness,” his “refusal to protect our elections from Russian interference,” and the “systematic undoing of environmental protections.”

“Let’s make sure they hear that we stand for our country’s democratic values, and that we oppose un-American, unpatriotic policies, and the spread of hatred and fear,” the email reads.

Looking ahead to other big political fund-raisers this month, the website NJ.com and The Post reported last month that tickets for the event hosted by Mr. Bongiovi, who fronts the band Bon Jovi, and his wife will range from $1,000 per person to $15,000 for the host committee, the latter including access to a cocktail reception and dinner and a photo with the senator and Mr. Bongiovi. The recording artist previously hosted a fund-raiser for Mr. Booker in Red Bank, N.J., The Post reported.

The Conservative Investor Daily said that a fund-raiser for Mr. Biden would “likely” be hosted by Bonnie Lautenberg, the widow of former Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey. Ms. Harris had a professional relationship with an East Hampton Village resident who previously lived in California. The resident told The Star last month that a fund-raiser for Ms. Harris would be held in the coming weeks.
