Food and Drink Specials

The Silver Lining Diner in South­ampton is offering $1 oysters and clams, and $1.50 chicken wings at the bar from 4 to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and from noon to 7 on Saturdays and Sundays. Select wines and beers are $5 per glass, and margaritas, daiquiris and other cocktails are $6.

The Bridgehampton Inn has dinner specials on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The menu features $12 small dishes such as eggplant caponata, $18 medium dishes, including chicken schnitzel sliders on a pretzel bun, and $24 large plates such as stout-braised short ribs, grits, and pickled vegetables. Desserts are $8 and include a pumpkin waffle sundae with maple walnut ice cream.

 

Oktoberfest

Rowdy Hall in East Hampton will hold an Oktoberfest kick-off party from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The restaurant will be converted into a German beer garden with communal dining tables, picnic tables in the courtyard, and traditional German music. Bar snacks including fresh-baked jumbo pretzels and bratwurst with mustard will be $10, and select beers will be $7 a pint, or $4 a half-pint. A beer tasting flight will be $10.

Rowdy Hall will offer a $27 two-course prix fixe Oktoberfest-themed dinner daily from Saturday through

Oct. 6. Through Wednesday, the menu features an entree of knockwurst, brat­wurst, and bockwurst with German potato salad, sauerkraut and mustard, plus an apple strudel sundae for dessert. From next Thursday to Sept. 29 the entree is wienerschnitzel with herbed spaetzle and gold beets, and the dessert is black forest torte. From Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, the entree is Kassler Rippchen (smoked pork chops) with a potato pancake and warm applesauce, and the dessert is butter pound cake with lemon cardamom glaze and quark ice cream. And from Oct. 3 to Oct. 6, the entree is sauerbraten with braised red cabbage and root vegetable puree, and the dessert is an apple strudel sundae.

For Rosh Hashana

Carissa’s Bakery in East Hampton is offering a special menu of baked goods for Rosh Hashana, which begins Sept. 29 and ends Oct 1. Challah bread is $10, and can be made with raisins, or sesame or nigella seeds. Hand-painted honey almond macaroons are $3 for an individual serving, or $7 for a large. An apple and plum tart with honey drizzle is $20, and a flourless chocolate cake with organic gold leaf is $35. Orders must be placed by next Thursday and can be picked up between Sept. 28 and Sept. 30.  

Harvest Party

Tickets are on sale for the Wolffer Estate’s annual harvest party to be held at the vineyard in Sagaponack on Oct. 12 from noon to 4:30 p.m. (the rain date is Oct. 13). Food from Brooklyn’s Palo Santo restaurant, the Rolling in the Dough pizza truck, and Fresh Flavors catering company will be served along with Wolffer’s wines and ciders. Activities will include grape-stomping, barrel-rolling, and a wine-making relay race. For kids, there will be pony rides, a petting zoo, and hay rides. The cost is $154 for adults over 21, and $85 for those 3 to 20 years old. Tickets must be purchased in advance on eventbrite.com.
