A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday morning after a reported collision with a bus at the intersection of Main Street and Buell Lane in East Hampton Village.

East Hampton Village police detectives are investigating the crash, which took place at 11:12 a.m.

The East Hampton Village Ambulance Association transported the motorcyclist to the ballfield next to the Bridgehampton Fire Department, where a medevac helicopter landed. Emergency medical technicians had initially requested that the helicopter land at East Hampton Airport, but due to its estimated time of arrival they decided to meet it in Bridgehampton.

Bridgehampton Fire Department personnel stood by with an engine and fire police at the ballfield for the landing.

Meanwhile, the holiday weekend traffic on Main Street was diverted down Mill Hill Lane and Dayton Lane until a tow truck could pick up the motorcycle, which was impounded.

The accident was cleared by 11:45 a.m. and the roads reopened.

No further information was immediately available. Check back for more information as it becomes available.
