Swimmers Lose to Champs

East Hampton High’s girls swimming team, which has on it only two seniors, went up against the defending county champion, Ward Melville, last Thursday, with an expected result.

The score was given as 93-83, though the home team was kind, having “exhibitioned,” i.e., it forewent points, in the three of the final four events.

The good news was that Oona Foulser, in the 100 freestyle, Camryn Hatch, in the 100 backstroke, and Julia Brierley, in the 100 breaststroke, registered county meet qualifying times.

East Hampton, with Caroline Brown, Brierley, Sophia Swanson, and Foulser, placed second in the 200 medley relay; was second (Foulser) in the 50 freestyle; was second (Foulser) in the 100 free; was second (Brierley) in the 100 breaststroke; was second (Margaret Breen, Foulser, Brierley, and Swanson) in the 200 freestyle relay, and was second (Olivia Brabant, Hatch, Emma Wiltshire, and Brown) in the 400 free relay.
