'All My Sons' on Screen

An encore screening of a new production of Arthur Miller’s play “All My Sons” from the Old Vic in London will take place Friday evening at Guild Hall. The play stars Sally Field and Bill Pullman, who “creep up and grab the audience by the jugular in Jeremy Herrin’s excellent production of Arthur Miller’s first masterpiece,” according to a review in The Telegraph.

Set in 1947 and based on a true story, the tragedy centers on the Keller family, whose patriarch, Joe (Mr. Pullman), was exonerated after his company shipped defective airplane parts that led to the death of 21 fighter pilots. One of his not-so-lucky employees, Steve, is serving time in prison for the crime.

Meanwhile, Kate Keller (Ms. Field) refuses to accept that her older son, Larry, died in a plane crash during the war. When Steve’s daughter and Joe’s younger son announce they want to marry, a chain of events is set in motion that shatters Joe’s and Kate’s lives.

Tickets to the 7 p.m. National Theatre Live presentation are $18, $16 for members.
