Parrish Director Honored
Monica Ramirez-Montagut, who became the director of the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill in June, will be appointed by President Joseph R. Biden to the National Museum and Library Services Board, which is the advisory panel to the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The appointment will be formalized at a swearing-in ceremony in October.

Dr. Ramirez-Montagut is one of 11 appointees, among them five other museum directors. With fellow board members, she will advise the agency on general policies with respect to the duties, powers, and authority of the institute relating to museum, library, and information services, as well as an annual selection of National Medals recipients.

Thoroughly Julie
The Sag Harbor Cinema's yearlong retrospective of the films of Julie Andrews will continue on Friday at 6 p.m. with "Thoroughly Modern Millie," George Roy Hill's musical comedy set in the Roaring Twenties. The screening will be followed by a conversation between Rob Marshall, whose films include "Chicago" and "Mary Poppins Returns," and Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan, the cinema's artistic director.

In the film, Ms. Andrews plays an innocent country girl who moves to New York to find a job and a wealthy husband. John Gavin, Mary Tyler Moore, James Fox, and Carol Channing, in an Oscar-nominated role, also star.

" 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' is a joyous celebration of the movie musical at the close of the genre’s Golden Age,” says Mr. Marshall, who also choreographed the Broadway production of "Victor/Victoria," which starred Ms. Andrews.

Classical Recitals
The Perlman Music Program will conclude the summer concert series at its Shelter Island campus with two alumni recitals this weekend. Friday's Stires-Stark recital, set for 7 p.m., will feature Andrew Gonzalez, viola, and Zhenni Li, piano, performing works from Kreisler, Bach, Schumann, and Rachmaninoff.

At the same time on Saturday, Wanzhen Li, violin, and Fei-Fei Dong, piano, will perform works by Mozart, Montgomery, Franck, and Kreisler.

Tickets are $35 for each concert. Advance registration is required.

A Father's Grief
"A Father's Kaddish," a documentary about a father's use of pottery to help him work through his grief after the death of his 23-year-old son, will be shown Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton. The film had its East End premiere at the center in July.

Steven Branfman, the subject of the film, and Jen Kaplan, its director, will speak at its conclusion. Tickets are $25, $20 for members.
