The Sag Harbor Cinema will host a screening of "RRR (Rise, Roar, Revolt)" a blockbuster Tollywood epic directed by S.S. Rajamouli, who received the 2022 Best Director award for the movie from the New York Film Critics Circle. (Tollywood is the name for motion pictures in the Telugu language, which is widely spoken in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.)

The film is a fictionalized adventure based on the real-life Indian freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, who fought against the British Raj in the 1920s. The plot explores the period when both revolutionaries chose to go into obscurity before beginning to fight for their country.

“A true cinematic rollercoaster with its blend of spectacle, action, comedy, music, heart, and irreverence, 'RRR' takes the Hollywood blockbuster to task," said Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan, the cinema's artistic director. "S.S. Rajamouli’s explosive creative vision can only be properly experienced on the big screen."

The three-hour film will be shown Sunday afternoon at 3 and be followed by a conversation between Ms. Vallan and Mr. Rajamouli, who will check in virtually. An Indian buffet from Saaz in Southampton will be offered on the cinema's third floor after the talk. Tickets are $16.50 for the film, $30 including the buffet.
