Artists in Conversation
The Women’s Art Center of the Hamptons will host a conversation with Carolyn Conrad, Eva Faye, and Kerry Sharkey-Miller on Sunday afternoon at 1. Their work is featured in “Shades of Winter,” currently on view at the Bridgehampton gallery through March 30.
A mixed-media artist, Ms. Conrad is inspired by diverse papers she collects, which she uses as the foundation for layered works that incorporate various materials and techniques.
Ms. Faye’s work, inspired by the shapes of trees and the symbolism of the number 3, explores fluidity, connection, and time, through layered materials such as vellum, oil, and linen.
Ms. Sharkey-Miller’s photography of the past decade has involved experimenting with printing her digital photographs, many of which are of trees and wildlife, on different materials, including aluminum and vellum.
The free talk will be moderated by Wendy Van Deusen, the art center’s director.
From Agathe Snow
“Agathe Goes Potatoes,” an exhibition of a new series of collages and pegboards by Agathe Snow, is at the Sagaponack Farm Distillery, 369 Sagg Road in Sagaponack, through April 12.
Ms. Snow’s résumé includes shows at the Jeu de Paume in Paris, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum Biennial, as well as a 2019 residency at the Elaine de Kooning House in East Hampton.
Lights, creatures, and shapes in the Mattituck woods inspire the works on view, which are collage-like wall pieces made from pegboard, acrylic, and steel bolts. In addition to making art, Ms. Snow is the co-proprietor, with Anthony Holbrooke, of Mattituck Mushrooms, a four-acre farm that sells to restaurants, at farmers markets, and online.
