The Hamptons Pride Film Series will return to Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater on Sunday at 4 p.m. with “Carol” (2015), an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 novel “The Price of Salt.” Directed by Todd Haynes, the film received six Academy Award nominations and nine from the British Academy.

Rooney Mara plays Therese, a young woman in her 20s who dreams of a more fulfilling life while working as a clerk in a Manhattan department store. When she meets Carol (Cate Blanchett), an elegant woman trapped in a loveless marriage, an immediate connection sparks between them. Once Carol’s marriage dissolves, a love affair ensues, but not without complications.

A.O. Scott of The New York Times wrote, “At once ardent and analytical, cerebral and swooning, ‘Carol’ is a study in human magnetism, in the physics and optics of eros.”

Tickets are $10. Attendees under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
