At Guantanamo Bay

Canio’s Cultural Cafe will host a free conversation between Joshua Colangelo-Bryan, the author of “Through the Gates of Hell: American Injustice at Guantanamo Bay,” and Mark Obenhaus, an award-winning documentary filmmaker, on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Sag Harbor.

Mr. Colangelo-Bryan is an attorney who went to Guantanamo Bay in 2004 to meet Jaber Mohammed, one of six Bahraini detainees his firm had agreed to represent. While he had been warned those men were dangerous, the opposite was true, as the dangerous people were in the U.S. government. After three years and several suicide attempts, Mr. Mohammed was finally freed through the efforts of Mr. Colangelo-Bryan.

As the co-director of “Cover-Up,” a film about the investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, as well as many other documentaries about abuses of power, Mr. Obenhaus is exceptionally qualified to confer with Mr. Colangelo-Bryan.

Journey Tribute

Any Way You Want It, a Journey tribute band based on Long Island and performing since 2009, will play at Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater on Saturday at 8 p.m.

The band promises “Bill Giangrande’s powerhouse vocals, Jonathan Ross’s melodic keyboard stylings, Lou Costa’s electrifying guitar riffs, Neil Walowitz’s rock solid grooves, and Mike Greiner’s thumping basslines.” Together they will deliver many of Journey’s biggest hits, among them “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Separate Ways,” “Wheel in the Sky,” and “Open Arms.”

Doors will open at 7, when the full bar will begin service in the lobby. Tickets are $44 to $56.

Architect’s Legacy

Two films highlighting the work and legacy of Beverly Willis (1928-2023), a pioneering architect, will be shown at the Southampton Arts Center in partnership with AIA Peconic, on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

“Unknown New York: The City That Women Built,” written and directed by Willis, is a 20-minute documentary featuring 234 Manhattan projects designed, engineered, or developed by women.

The program will also include “The Architect Beverly Willis: San Francisco and New York Years, 1958-1995,” a 20-minute documentary that is part of “Beverly Willis: The Artist and the Architect,” a suite of three films written and directed by Mark Mitchell that trace the architect’s long and influential career.

A panel discussion led by Viola Rouhani, a partner at Stelle Lomont Rouhani Architects in Bridgehampton, will follow the screenings. Tickets are $20, $15 for SAC and AIA members.

Glam Jam at Temple

A musical weekend at Sag Harbor’s Masonic Temple will kick off Thursday night at 7 with the monthly Glam Jam, which will be headlined by Annie Trezza. Musicians who want to jam can sign up for as many as three songs. Admission is a can of nonperishable food.

On Friday at 7, in partnership with Hamptons JazzFest, the temple will host “Cape Winds and Caribbean Fire,” an evening of live jazz with Morris Goldberg, alto saxophone and pennywhistle; Omar Kabir, on trumpet and various horns; Benito Gonzalez, piano; Michael O’Brien, bass, and Claes Brondal, the M.C., on drums. Doors will open at 6:30, when dinner from Tapovana Lunch Box and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission is $20.

Jake Lear and the Kings will return to the temple on Saturday at 7 with a guest performer, Eric Simons of Kings County Tractor Supply, a blues and roots band. With Mr. Lear on guitar and vocals, Jamie Ellis on bass, and Mike Guglielmo on drums, the band performs classics from such blues luminaries as Robert Johnson, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Howlin’ Wolf, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Tickets are $20.
