Gershon Halts Petitions and Public Events

Thu, 03/19/2020 - 07:46

Perry Gershon, who is seeking a Democratic Party primary win to challenge Representative Lee Zeldin in New York’s First Congressional District, has announced the suspension of his petition gathering and public events.

“As we see a growing number of cases of the coronavirus increase on Long Island, and public health experts encourage taking serious precautions, I have decided to suspend all in-person campaign events, including petition operations, as of today,” Mr. Gershon, who lives in East Hampton, wrote on Twitter on Friday. “It is in the best interest of our volunteers, supporters, and staff to take all measures to keep themselves healthy.”

“However, we still have a campaign to win and to that end we are holding all upcoming campaign events online,” including a town hall event that was to have taken place yesterday, house parties, and other public events, Mr. Gershon said.
