AmagansettA red, white, and blue Trek mountain bike was stolen from the entrance to Indian Wells Beach around 7 a.m. on July 16. Mark Crandall told police he had left the bike along with his flip-flops in the sand while he went for a short walk. When he returned, the flip-flops remained, but the bicycle, valued at $250, was gone.East HamptonA driver for Home Town taxi told police that he had been dispatched to a Goodfriend Drive address June 23 to pick up eight passengers headed to the Stephen Talkhouse. After Frank Labarbera, whose home address is in Richmondville, N.Y., pulled away, he quoted a price to his passengers, which caused the group, who were in their 20s and early 30s, to strenuously object. The driver turned around and took the group back. After he opened the van door for them, he was assaulted by one of the men, who was pulled off of him by another. It does not appear that any arrests were made.East Hampton VillageLily Pond Lane was the location of a noise complaint Sunday morning. The owner of one estate complained that the hedges were being trimmed on a neighboring property, contrary to village code, which prohibits such work on Sundays. The owner of the offending estate said she would tell her caretaker to stop cutting the hedges. Peace was restored, and no citations were issued.The owner of 80 Further Lane called police Sunday morning to report that a 2008 BMW was blocking his access to the property. Police responded, but because the car was parked on private property, they advised the property’s owner that he would have to have it towed. They checked the property, and reported all was secure.A 5-year-old girl was reported missing Saturday around midnight by guests at a Georgica Close Road estate. When police arrived, the father told them that he had found the girl, who had been “hiding under pillows on the couch.” No further action was taken.Police went to Wiborg’s Beach Saturday evening after receiving a report of a low-flying drone. When they got there, the drone was not to be seen.A $220 bill for a woman’s dress alteration done at a Newtown Lane shop led to an upset customer and a call to the police by the shopkeeper Friday afternoon. By the time police arrived, the bill had been paid and the unhappy customer was gone.A Barnes Lane man called police early last Thursday morning, complaining that a neighboring building on Newtown Lane had an exhaust fan that made noise in the night. He said he wanted the situation documented. Police were uncertain as to which business the fan belongs to.A Calverton woman told police she had left her clutch purse on a counter at Bank of America on Newtown Lane for a few minutes on July 20. When she returned, the purse was gone. They were able to free the animal.A Manhattan woman was issued a citation for having multiple dogs off the leash in a restricted area on Main Beach on the morning of July 18.MontaukA Riverhead woman who spent a few hours on the beach last Saturday had her nonresident parking sticker stolen from her 2004 Buick. She told police she had been on the beach between 10 a.m. and a little after 4 p.m. To add insult to injury, she was ticketed for not having a sticker.The area in front of the Memory Motel was the site of a fight between a number of people early Saturday morning, with police having to step in and break up the fracas.Two cabbies got into a fight outside the Point Bar and Grill a little before midnight Sunday. One of the drivers had become enraged because the other one had cut in front of him and taken his fare. No charges were pressed.Northwest WoodsA five-foot-tall gray carved wooden cigar store Indian was stolen from the driveway of a Diane Drive house on either June 30 or July 1, Diane Ginsburg told police. She valued the sculpture at $500.Sag HarborCriminal mischief was the aim of the person or persons who vandalized the area around Bay Street Theater early in the morning on July 19. First, an officer found a crosswalk sign, a “No U-Turn” sign, and a flower pot with an American flag in it blocking the road on Main Street. After returning the items to their proper places, the officer found two theater posters that had been removed from outside Bay Street Theater and placed in the middle of Wharf Street. A bike rack was similarly moved from the parking lot by Provisions. Bay Street reported that, besides the damaged posters, each valued at $300, a poster advocating rights for the L.G.B.T. community was missing, and two Wind Master poster frames, valued at $500, were damaged, as well.A man wearing red shorts and carrying a backpack was spotted going door to door on Jefferson Street last Thursday evening. Police questioned the man, but took no action.
