Driver, 73, Dead After Amagansett Crash

Wed, 03/04/2020 - 17:45

East Hampton Town police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that left a woman dead on Wednesday morning.

Ellyn E. Tucker, 73, was driving a 2019 Nissan Kicks north on Napeague Meadow Road when her car went off the pavement and struck a utility pole. Police were notified at 5:43 a.m., but it is possible her car had been there longer. There were no signs of skid marks in the area, according to first responders.

An Amagansett ambulance took Ms. Tucker, who lived in New York City and Springs, to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office is conducting an autopsy.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection, and the investigation is continuing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call detectives at 631-537-7575.
