East Hampton

A dumpster fire sparked at the recycling center on Springs-Fireplace Road on Friday afternoon. East Hampton firefighters arrived and tamed the blaze.

 

East Hampton Village

Police were called to the train station Sunday afternoon after a request for a well-being check on a man stretched out in a sleeping bag. The man explained that he was waiting for a train and that his sleeping bag was made for extremely cold temperatures. Police determined that all was well and departed.

 

Montauk

Someone attempted to use a Granada Court woman’s credit card on Dec. 10 to buy airline tickets. Police documented the incident and helped her to notify her credit card company.

 

Sag Harbor

Police recorded a “road rage incident” on Main Street Saturday night, but allowed the drivers to go their separate ways afterward, without charges. Each driver claimed the other had been driving erratically.

 

Springs

Three people were ticketed a few hours apart on Sunday afternoon for driving on the sands off Gerard Drive without a valid beach permit.

Indicted in Rape of a Child

A Springs man charged recently with felony sexual abuse of a child has been indicted by a grand jury and is being held in police custody in high bail.

On Saturday a shoplifter struck at Dôen on Madison Street in Sag Harbor, stealing a pair of black shoes. Employees told police she had “heavy Botox to her face.”

Driver and Passenger Booked

A driver and his passenger were both arrested by Sag Harbor Village police in the early morning hours on Sunday, one charged with drunken driving and the other with resisting arrest.
