Amagansett

Police went to the Stephen Talkhouse early on the morning of Dec. 22 after a report of “four male subjects being verbally abusive to others,” but the four were gone when police arrived.

On Bunker Hill Road on Dec. 6, two people told police that a man had called, saying he was “from the federal government,” and told them to buy gift cards to rescue their compromised bank accounts. One of them went to a store, where an employee noticed him buying gift cards in bulk and told him it could be a scam. Police warned the man to monitor his bank accounts.

East Hampton

A man entered Mitad del Mundo on the morning of Dec. 4 and left with 25 loaves of bread, one package of Festiva cookies, and two packages of chocolate wafers, without paying. He drove away in a black Mercedes. The store will pursue charges if he is found.

East Hampton Village

Police went to Fredericka Lane, off Pantigo Road, after a report of four drones in the sky, two to the north and two to the south, on the evening of Dec. 17. No drones were found.

Employees of Louis Vuitton reported a theft of sunglasses, valued at $590, at around noon on Dec. 22. According to a brief note in the police log, the alleged thief, who was said to be wearing a blue down coat, was last seen in a car headed west, and was “captured” in Wainscott 14 minutes later.

Montauk

A resident of Embassy Street told police on Dec. 18 that he’d sent money to someone who’d told him he needed assistance to take care of his elderly mother. He continued to send money but eventually stopped, and called the police when the caller began threatening him. He was told to block the scammer’s number.

Two people kicked over some decorative candy canes outside Uihlein’s Marina on the morning of Nov. 18, causing $300 worth of damage.

Springs

A businesswoman on Springs-Fireplace Road contacted police recently after people told her they were receiving strange messages from her on WhatsApp and asked if “everything was okay.” Police told her to deactivate the account and contact her customers by other means.

A Neck Path man noticed a door in his backyard ajar on the morning of Dec. 22 and called police. There were no signs of forced entry, but he wanted the incident documented.

The shaving cream vandal struck again over the weekend, this time spraying the stuff around the interior and exterior of the men’s restroom in the Reutershan parking lot downtown Saturday night.

On the Police Logs 10.23.25

A dog had been barking on and off in a fenced-in backyard for four days, a Springs-Fireplace Road neighbor reported on the night of Oct.15, adding that the house appeared to be empty and abandoned. Police went to the property and found a large black-and-white husky, “whimpering and shivering.”
