On Saturday, the eighth annual Johnny Mac Tennis Project's Pro Am in the Hamptons will be held at the Sportime Amagansett Tennis and Swim Club on Abraham's Path. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Johnny Mac Tennis Project, a nonprofit founded by tennis legend John McEnroe that aims to introduce tennis to thousands of under-resourced children by helping to remove racial, economic, and social barriers that often face them.
Saturday's event, hosted by McEnroe and his brother Patrick, is touted as "the biggest and best Pro Am in the world," on the organization's website. Joining the McEnroe brothers will be other tennis legends, such as the famed Bryan brothers (the winningest men's doubles team in history), Mary Joe Fernandez, once ranked number four in the world, and Matts Wilander, the Swedish former world number 1. There will also be 63 tennis pros to play with amateurs in the event.
While tickets to play with a legend are sold out, the public can still purchase tickets to play with a participating tennis professional ($2,500) or to be a spectator ($150). Additionally, a silent auction with prizes such as 2023 PGA Championship tickets, a sailing trip, a Nestor Cortez autographed baseball, and others, are available to all at bit.ly/3QOaCAa.
