Library to Host Online College Planning

Thu, 03/19/2020 - 08:32

The East Hampton Library remained closed this week. Holders of overdue materials will not be fined.

There will be an online program for students beginning to think about applying to college and their parents tomorrow at 6 p.m., sponsored by the library. Julie Raynor Gross, the founder of Collegiate Gateway, will discuss finding “best-fit” schools, making the most of college visits and developing a list of which to see, understanding the concept of “reach” and “realistic” options, and how to decide where to enroll once accepted. Registration is at easthamptonlibrary.org/calendar.

All other library programs and classes have been canceled.

The library website is a gateway to a number of online services for borrowing books and music and streaming television programs and movies. There are several tabs on the library homepage that link to the services, including “Free eBooks, Music & Movies,” “Live-brary,” “Kanopy,” and “Flipster.” There is a webcam pointed in the direction of the Buell Lane intersection on about a 30-second delay, if one is feeling cooped up and in need of a look at the outside world.
