Jerry Larsen Organizes Fund-Raiser for Food Pantries

Thu, 04/16/2020 - 16:13

In an effort to help those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Jerry Larsen, a candidate for East Hampton Village mayor in the June election, organized a fund-raising drive last week that took in $83,000 for the East Hampton and Springs food pantries and the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center.

“The food pantry is grateful to Jerry Larsen for helping to raise money we desperately need to feed the increased number of clients we have served over the past few weeks,” said Vicki Littman, the chairwoman of the East Hampton Food Pantry.

Holly Reichart-Wheaton, the Springs Food Pantry chairwoman, and Katy Graves, the executive director of the Whitmore Center, also expressed their gratitude.

In a statement announcing the donations, Mr. Larsen said he and his running mates in the New Town Party “will continue to raise as much as we can for these wonderful organizations.”

Say Cheese (or Caviar), Day or Night

Self Provisions, a storefront attached to Cavaniola’s Gourmet Cheese in Sag Harbor, is “always open,” as is proclaimed by an illuminated sign on the wall at the entrance. Two large, brightly lit vending machines dominate the space, with offerings ranging from sea salt crackers and slabs of French butter to jars of caviar and curated gift boxes — and, of course, cheese.
