Big Haul for Food Pantries

Tue, 11/22/2022 - 16:43

After three weeks of fund-raising, an online auction dubbed Feed the East End raised more than $10,000 for food pantries in East Hampton, Sag Harbor, and Montauk.

Its organizer, Kirby Marcantonio, announced on Monday that additional donations from sponsors put the total over $15,000. “All of this is proof that when asked, people in these communities respond,” Mr. Marcantonio wrote in a letter to The Star.

He acknowledged the many local businesses, civic groups, and churches that supported the effort. He also thanked the community members who bid on more than 90 prizes and ultimately raised so much money to address what he described as “the pressing need for food in this area and the challenging times fall and winter bring.”
