Silvia Mannix

Silvia Mannix of East Hampton, died on Sept. 3 at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 83.

Ms. Mannix was born on Dec. 28, 1927, in Jamaica, Queens, to Candido Iorio and the former Lucia Avalone. She was the youngest of six children.

Ms. Mannix began spending time on the South Fork when she was 5. Since 1971, she lived in both Amagansett and East Hampton while managing an estate on the ocean.

Ms. Mannix is survived by her five children, Martin Mannix of Sag Harbor, James Mannix and Brian Mannix of Amagansett, Gary Mannix of Arizona, and Karyn Mannix of East Hampton. Three siblings, Al Iorio of New Jersey, Norma Ferraro of Lake Grove, and Emily Valentino of Virginia, also survive, as do seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visiting hours were held earlier this month at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home and a funeral Mass was said on Sept. 7, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in East Hampton, followed by burial in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations have been suggested to the Alzheimer 's Association at alz.org.
