Amagansett

Mark Smith was sitting in front of his restaurant, Coche Comedor on Montauk Highway, on Oct. 2 at about 1:35 a.m., when he saw a man steal a decorative rock in the driveway. He watched as the man got out of a black Dodge Ram pickup truck that was exiting the parking lot and take the rock, then pull away and head east on the highway. He estimated the rock’s worth at $100.

East Hampton

About $800 in cash was stolen from a wallet left inside a parked car on Crystal Drive Saturday night. Darning Santiago told police he found his wallet on the passenger-side floor Sunday morning with the money missing. Mr. Santiago said he was certain he’d locked his 2003 Volkswagen Jetta and it was still locked in the morning.

A pool cover was stolen from a Todd Drive property sometime between Sept. 17 and Sept. 20. Kathleen McNamara left the cover out by the pool on the 17th so that M&M Pools, a Hampton Bays company, could close the pool for the season, and three days later, she told police, it was gone. Ms. McNamara said it would cost $1,440 to replace.

East Hampton Village

A seagull in distress was found on Oct. 9 at Main Beach with a fishing lure stuck in its beak. A Southampton man called police, saying he did not know whom else to call, and was advised to contact a wildlife rescuer.

Police received a report of a large brush pile on Mill Hill Lane last Thursday morning. An officer tried to contact the owner of the nearest house to no avail, but was able to contact the person’s attorney, who said a landscaper would remove the pile. It was gone the next day.

A Kings Park woman asked that police be at the Nature Trail on Saturday when she removed two domesticated barn geese from the duck pond to take them to a sanctuary. She did not want bystanders to think she was illegally handling the geese, she said.

Montauk

While out on patrol at about 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 5, an officer spotted a broken car window on South Erie Avenue. The driver’s-side rear window of Timothy J. LaSalle’s 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser was damaged, but nothing appeared to have been stolen from the car.

Jillian Davis of Rutherford, N.J., reported her blue Schwinn bicycle stolen from near a staircase at Daunt’s Albatross Motel back on Sept. 8. She had secured the bike with a lock and chain, but the lock was tampered with. The bike was worth about $300.

Sag Harbor

Power tools were reported stolen from a Henry Street house on Saturday. Joseph H. Trevisani said a Festool vacuum, worth $1,000, and a Dewalt 12-inch double-bevel, sliding-compound miter saw, worth $900, were taken from his garage. He said he last saw the items three weeks earlier, and that two men had access to the garage during that time.

Springs

Jamie O. Quizhpi’s pickup truck, parked on Kings Court, was keyed overnight on Oct. 5. Police saw numerous deep scratches on the doors, quarter panels, and hood of the 2017 Toyota Tundra. Mr. Quizhpi’s brother, who owns the house, had a party the night before and the car was parked in the driveway at about 9 p.m. The damage was discovered at about 10 the next morning.
