‘Fleabag’ Onscreen
Fans of “Fleabag,” the Emmy Award-winning comedy-drama starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, won’t want to miss Friday’s 7 p.m. National Theatre Live screening at Guild Hall of the play that inspired the series. Written and performed by Ms. Waller-Bridge, the show was filmed when it ran on London’s West End in August, six years after it debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In his review of the recent production, which Ms. Waller-Bridge has said will be the play’s final theatrical run, Nick Curtis of the Evening Standard concluded, “At heart, this is storytelling in a beautifully pure form: just Waller-Bridge, her rolling eyes and expressive half-sneer, a chair, a couple of voice-overs and some distressing guinea pig sound effects. A triumph.”
Tickets are $18, $16. The cost is $96 with the addition of a private pre-screening dinner hosted by The East Hampton Star at the Maidstone Hotel in East Hampton.
