A person allegedly responsible for supplying the drugs that caused a teenager's overdose in East Hampton Village on Halloween has been arrested.
The supposed dealer was arrested after the teenager was found unconscious in East Hampton on Thursday, village police said. The substance was not identified.
Village police and ambulance personnel responded to a call of an unconscious 15-year-old male at 7:30 p.m. Police did not release the location of the incident, but said only that it was in the village.
First responders provided "critical medical care to the juvenile" and transported him to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, police said in a statement on Saturday. He was transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is recovering.
Police said the teen had "ingested an unknown type of drug."
Village police detectives worked with the Suffolk County District Attorney's East End Drug Task Force "to locate and arrest a suspect alleged to be the source drug dealer involved," according to village police. The alleged dealer's name was not immediately released.
The East End Drug Task Force will provide more details on the arrest soon, village police said. The teen's name will not be released, they said.
The investigation is continuing.
