Last Thursday evening in Sag Harbor, village police charged a woman with misdemeanor drunken driving after an officer saw that her older model Mercedes had no lights, either headlights or taillights. Michele A. Vannostran, 29, of Philadelphia, was headed south on Hampton Street at the time, about 9 p.m. Police also said the car had crossed the solid white line into the shoulder multiple times.
Ms. Vannostran appeared intoxicated and performed poorly on several field sobriety tests, according to a report. She was held overnight at East Hampton Village police headquarters for arraignment in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on Friday morning, when Justice Lisa R. Rana released her on her own recognizance.
A Rye, N.Y., man with a license that has been suspended or revoked five times was charged Saturday night with driving while intoxicated in East Hampton.
Robert E. Kessler, 48, got the attention of town police when he drifted out of his lane as he headed east in a 2006 Chevrolet on Montauk Highway near Skimhampton Road, at about 11:35 p.m.
During a traffic stop, he appeared intoxicated and failed the roadside tests, police said. A check of his license showed his driving privileges in New York were suspended or revoked a total of five times in July, including twice in Westchester County, and on three different dates in July and September in Manhattan, for failure to pay a fine and failure to answer summonses.
Mr. Kessler was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I. and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony. Held overnight for a morning arraignment in East Hampton Town Justice Court, he was released on his own recognizance.
A Manhattan man, also driving without a valid license, was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I. Friday night in Montauk. Police said they clocked Larry L. Campbell II, 58, at 51 miles per hour in a 30 m.p.h. zone on Montauk Highway near South Eaton Street; he had been eastbound in a 2018 Mercedes.
A computer check revealed that his license had been suspended on Aug. 21, 2018, for failure to pay New York State taxes, and had not been restored. He too was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor in his case. Following a morning arraignment, he was released on his own recognizance.
Speeding also led to the arrest of Enrique G. Fernandezalcocer of Sag Harbor, late Friday night. East Hampton Town police stopped the 44-year-old man on Cedar Street, near Fieldview Lane in East Hampton, saying his 2018 Chevrolet had been going 48 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone. He showed signs of intoxication, police said. His blood-alcohol level was said to be above .18, prompting a charge of misdemeanor aggravated drunken driving.
Mr. Fernandezalcocer was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment on Saturday morning.
