Liliane M. Chapin

Liliane M. Chapin, a painter who had lived in East Hampton for more than 20 years, died of heart failure on July 7 at South County Hospital in South Kingstown, R.I. She was 72.

She was born on June 29, 1947, in Marseille, France, to Astrid and Garbes Mahmouzian, and grew up there. She later came to East Hampton, where she graduated from East Hampton High School.

She is survived by her husband, William Chapin of South Kingstown, a son, Christopher P. Chapin of Albuquerque, and three siblings, Paul Mahmouzian of East Hampton, Robert Mahmouzian of Newport Beach, Calif., and Angele Sumi of Redondo Beach, Calif.

The family held a private service on July 9 at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home in Wakefield, R.I. Condolences can be offered on the funeral home’s website.
