An allegedly drunken driver rear-ended another car at a stop sign in downtown Montauk earlier this month. According to East Hampton Town police, Michael J. Kissane, 48, with addresses in Manhattan and Smithtown, was driving a 2010 Ford sport utility vehicle at about 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 when he ran into a 2005 Toyota S.U.V. at the stop sign on the Plaza near Montauk Highway.
George L. Pena of Richmond Hill, Queens, was behind the wheel of the Toyota when the accident occurred. Mr. Kissane told police Mr. Pena had cut in front of him, but police quickly determined that Mr. Kissane was under the influence of alcohol.
He was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and held overnight at police headquarters. Justice Steven Tekulsky arraigned him the next morning and released him on his own recognizance.
Neither driver was injured in the accident, nor were Mr. Pena’s two passengers.
Amanda M. Galasso, 29, of Amagansett was charged with D.W.I. after police caught her speeding at about 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 13. Police reported clocking her at 62 miles per hour in a 30 m.p.h. zone on Old Stone Highway, near Abram’s Landing Road in Amagansett. She had failed to stop at a stop sign at a nearby intersection, they added.
Ms. Galasso appeared intoxicated and reportedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Police said they found a small amount of marijuana in her possession. She was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I. and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and held overnight for a morning arraignment, when Justice Lisa R. Rana released her on her own recognizance.
Jorge Ivan Herrera-Murillo, 31, of East Hampton was arrested on a misdemeanor D.W.I. charge at 2:25 a.m. on Aug. 11. He was driving a 2001 Volvo south on Abraham’s Path, East Hampton, when, police said, he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Springs-Fireplace Road. Justice Rana arraigned him later that day and released him on $300 bail.
Over in Sag Harbor at about 2 a.m. on Sunday, village police arrested a man who they said had ignored a stop sign at the intersection of Bay and Main Streets. Frank M. Boccanfuso, 56, of Purchase, N.Y., performed poorly on field sobriety tests after being pulled over and refused to take a chemical test. He too was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I.
Police in the harbor also charged a local woman with drunken driving. On Monday at about 3 a.m., they said, Adrian G. Kestler, 21, was seen speeding west over the Sag Harbor bridge, reportedly going 42 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone. An officer caught up to her on Route 114 near Fahy’s Road on North Haven, and said she appeared intoxicated.
A check of her license showed it had been suspended four times on two dates. Ms. Kestler performed poorly on the road tests, police said, and refused to take a chemical test.
