Get your pencils and notebooks ready, kids — the first day of school for most South Fork students is Wednesday.

School supply lists can be found on the districts' individual websites. But students in Montauk won't have to worry about that, as the school is covering supplies for all of its children this year.

Summer reading and math assignments for some, including East Hampton High School, East Hampton Middle School, John M. Marshall Elementary School, Springs School, and Montauk School, are also posted online at the respective districts' websites.

The Sag Harbor School District will hold a meet-and-greet for its prekindergarten classes on Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. for morning students and at 11:30 a.m. for afternoon students. School begins for Sag Harbor's prekindergarten children next Thursday.

At the Sagaponack School, all students will be dismissed early, at 11 a.m., for the first three days of school.

The Springs School has a new drop-off and pick-up "car line" system while construction is under way at the school. Information was mailed to families in their "welcome back" packets.

The exceptions to this Wednesday's start date are two local private schools, the Hayground School and Ross School, which officially start a week later. Hayground will host a back-to-school potluck dinner on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. Ross will have orientation for all new students on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
